The Lynyrd Skynyrd Experience: Jacksonville Day Trip

The first stop is at the Ronnie Van Zant Memorial Park, which is where the band was formed at a baseball game when the band members were teens. This first stop will tell the story about the members and the forming of the band.The second stop will be a lunch stop at White’s Fish Camp which was a known hang out spot of the band. The tour proceeds by Robert E. Lee High School, where Coach Leonard Skinner wrote the band members up repeatedly for having hair that was too long! Eventually the band was named Lynyrd Skynyrd after the coach as a joke, and the name stuck! The tour travels on from this point to the childhood homes of Ronnie Van Zant, Gary Rossington, and Bob Burns. The original carport is still in place where the band held their first jam together. The tour ends at Riverside Memorial Park , where you will see the graves of Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson, Billy Powell, and Coach Leonard Skinner. Upon leaving the cemetery we will pass the Jug Saloon, which is the namesake of the song Gimme Three Steps. The price includes transportation, driver, tour guide, tickets, lunch, drinks and snacks!
